Some classic Van Morrison

Posted on Updated on

In August, Van “The Man” Morrison is to perform on Cyprus Avenue in Belfast. As a long time fan I am rather annoyed to say the bloody thing has sold out. Who wouldn’t want to see Van The Man perform on Cyprus Avenue.

Here is a vintage performance of Cyprus Avenue from 1979. It comes close to his air kicking performance in The Last Waltz as being his best.

Sorry to be a pedant Robert but it’s Cypress Avenue, tree not island.
Hope you get tickets. I saw him twice. New York , Wollman Rink Central Park New York, 10970/71? Just after Moondance. Magical . Last year at Hampton Court. Incredible.
To think he spent 40 plus years doing that instead of wasting time…
What a lucky man. Hope you get in somehow, see him on home turf would be something else again

PS: welcome back! You were missed.

I don’t think he has sung those songs since the seventies. He hasn’t become a karaoke act like half the acts still going from then. A good thing. Who wants to watch Van singing Brown Eyed Girl again. Of course he hated that one.

28 years later he was still playing “No Guru, No Method, No Teacher”. What is it about that song that attracts me? 😉
