I have just switched off the latest in a long line of rather boring documentaries in the Horizon series. BBC continues to disappoint. The lowest common denominator appears to be not low enough.
Fortunately I hear that Jonathan Meades has something new coming. Anyone unfamiliar with Meades should get familiar. His observations about the living environment are never boring. And he makes the apparently mundane interesting. As Meades has remarked, “Churches can be (often are) duff, while toilets (more useful than churches) can be landmarks”.
Here he is, in 1996, on the future, and how we seem to have abandoned it.
