Germany moving villages to make way for coal mines, Energiewende booms

Posted on

If you spend too much time listening to environmentalists on the issue you will think Germany is leading the way to a sustainable future and that we should follow, and do it quickly. Meanwhile in Germany they are planning to move villages to make way for lignite mines. And lignite is just about the most carbon intensive way to produce electricity imaginable. The New York Times have it covered well here.

As Mark Twain observed “Give a man a reputation as an early riser and he can sleep ’til noon.” The same goes for Germany’s low carbon credentials.
